Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Ukraine Manoj Kumar Bharti: “India of today is what Europe wants to become tomorrow”

APRIL 18, 2016 – On April 15, 2016, during his business trip to Lviv Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Ukraine Manoj Kumar Bharti met with students and professors of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs Mariya Zubrytska introduced the guest to the audience, noting that “today, students have a unique opportunity to get a deeper understanding of India as a country: to study the realities of nowadays, to plunge into its past, and even to have a look into the future”.

At the beginning of his presentation, the Ambassador said that “the purpose of the meeting is to abtain a clear understanding of why India is an important and unique country with many opportunities and great potential for international dialogue and to outline the place of its culture, history and achievements in world’s heritage”.

During the lecture the Ambassador focused on quantitative indicators of population, highlighting its potential for Ukraine if we decide to cooperate at any level. In addition, according to the diplomat, India is the fourth country in the world in economic indicators, and the largest English-speaking nation, having a number of unique little-known facts that demonstrate the importance and potential of the country in the world. Within the lecture the Ambassador emphasized the high level of democracy and openness of the country, noting that the elections of 2014 in India were attended by 815 million of voters.

As a conclusion Manoj Kumar Bharti indicated optimistically: “India is a phenomenon that should strongly inspire all of us”.
