Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Ukraine visited IFNUL
JUNE 15, 2015 – On the 12th of June, 2015 the delegation of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine visited Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in terms of the official meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun with Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk, Vice-Rector for Academic and International affairs, Professor Mariya Zubrytska, and representatives of the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv regional state administration.
During the meeting the sides discussed issues of deepening Ukrainian-Chinese academic cooperation and perspectives to open the Center of Confucius at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China appraised the quality of Ukrainian education and draw attention to the prestige of Ukrainian universities, which are having great potential, experienced and intelligent teachers and professors, who prepare highly qualified specialists and masterly create comfortable psychological atmosphere as to foreign students. According to the Ambassador, Ukraine now hosts about 5000 students from China. More than 6000 Chinese citizens are fluent in Ukrainian. Zhang Xiyun also mentioned that at present the work is carried out, aming to restore educational and scientific projects and to establish close contacts with Universities of Ukraine.
