Deputy Director of the Kennan Institute William Pomeranz visited IFNUL

SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 – On September 14, 2015, Vice-Rector for Academic and International affairs, Professor Mariya Zubrytska together with the Director of the Center for American Studies, Associate Professor of International Relations and Diplomacy, the graduate of Kennan Institute research program Roman Kalytchak, had a meeting with Deputy Director of Kennan Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Research Center in Washington (USA), William Pomeranz.

During the meeting, scientists discussed the mechanisms of Ukrainian-U.S. cooperation, including Kennan Institute participation in the American Studies conference which will be organized next year in IFNUL on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the United States recognizing the independence of our country.

Also during the meeting the interlocutors shared their thoughts on the possibility of realization of the joint project “Ukrainian Studies in the US, American Studies in Ukraine”.

“Often we get information about the United States from Russia, which distorts the real picture of events. Instead, foreign diplomats who come to Ukraine only express deep anxiety about the events that are now taking place in the east of our country. Enough talking! It is time to act! “- called for effective collaboration Prof. Zubrytska, noting that “at small institutions and centers there is a substantial support to the public for better understanding of the situation in Ukraine”.

Deputy Director of the Kennan Institute William Pomerantz supported the proposal of Mariya Zubrytska on active inter-institutional cooperation and agreed to start implementation of the first steps towards the objective interpretation of reality in the context of the events “Ukraine-USA”.
