Meeting with Rector of Opole University (Poland)

   NOVEMBER 10, 2014 – IFNUL Rector Volodymyr Melnyk met with his Polish colleague, Rector of Opole University, Professor Stanisław Nicieja. During the meeting, the main aspects of cooperation between universities, as well as the joint Ukrainian-Polish scientific research projects were discussed.

   Rector of Opole University presented his book “Lviv – the garden of sleep and memory”, which is the first research on the history of Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv. Prof. Nicieja also talked about common issues in the history of Ukrainian and Polish cities, stressing on the importance of academic cooperation between the two universities and outlined the main aspects of higher education in Poland.

   Rector Volodymyr Melnyk said that it is a great honor for IFNUL academic community to continue and deepen cooperation with one of the leading Polish universities – University of Opole. He thanked Polish colleagues for political and moral support of Ukraine toward the establishment of democratic values and brought audience attention to the fact that today Ukrainian and Polish scientists have a common position on many issues in scientific and socio-political life of both countries.

   In 2015, two universities will sign an agreement on cooperation in the framework of the program “Erasmus +”, which should coordinate establishment of Joint Master Degree programs for students of the Faculty of International Relations and Political Science Institute (specialty – “International Relations”) and take part in the EU project competition within “Erasmus KA1”, “Erasmus KA2” and “Horizon 2020” programs.
