Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine

   NOVEMBER 5, 2014 – An Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine, His Excellency Mr. Andreas Von Beckerath visited IFNUL. During the meeting with our students, Ambassador put emphasis on the optimism that would help to elicit the potential of our country and mentioned that Sweden, as the current member of the European Union is trying to fully support Ukraine’s aspirations for European integration. Swedish diplomat expressed expectation that adoption of important laws, including anti-corruption law will guarantee improvement of the situation in Ukraine.

   The Ambassador is convinced that Ukraine tends to change slowly, with great effort, but moving into right direction. He pointed out that the EU has a number of economic agreements with Ukraine and allowed the export of Ukrainian products without duties. This is the first step towards the approaching of Ukrainian legislation to the European level and the beginning of implementation of the Association Agreement. Andreas Von Beckerath told that Association Agreement has become a powerful engine for the implementation of necessary reforms in Ukraine.

   It is worth mentioning that Ambassador was impressed by the students fluent Swedish. In his own opinion, it is important that young people are interested in learning Swedish as far as it increases opportunities for establishing communication between our nations.
