Presentation of Fulbright Program at IFNUL

OCTOBER 2, 2015 – On September 28, 2015 at INFUL was held a presentation of one of the most prestigious international academic exchange projects – Fulbright Program, which is sponsored by the US government.

Roy Honas, Dr. of Law in Cumberland School of Law of Samford University (Birmingham, AL, USA) told about teaching the course “International Business Law” in the framework of Fulbright exchange programs. The professor said: “course is intended for several thematic lectures on international commercial arbitration and aims to discuss the practical issues that arise in this area. During the classes students ask questions, exchange thoughts and judgments. Thus they outline the prospects for the future life and learning in this way is effective. Therefore, due to Fulbright exchange program international education improves mutual understanding and establishing a network of personal and professional contacts”.

It should be noted that about 310 000 scientists, public and cultural activists, teachers and students were the participants of the Fulbright Program, among them – 116,900 American citizens and 192,800 foreigners. In Ukraine the program was launched in 1992, since 1998 in Kyiv operates a separate office of the Fulbright Program. American side allocates funds to cover the costs of Americans stay in Ukraine and Ukrainians stay in the US.

In 1999 Fulbright alumni founded the Ukrainian Fulbright Association that actively realizes a Fulbright experience gained in American universities, made out of dozens, hundreds of different developments, achievements and aspirations of scientists and based on live communication “from man to man “and debatable-dialogical exchange of ideas, experience that encourages Fulbrighters not only to make comparisons and to initiate change but become their active participants.

During the visit to the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Joe McCormick and Martha Kolomayets met with alumni of the Fulbright Program – Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs, Prof. Mariya Zubrytska and Director of the Center of American Studies at IFNUL, Associate Prof. Roman Kalytchak and discussed perspectives of cooperation, including the active involvement of American scientists and researchers in participation in public lectures and searching ways to optimize further cooperation.
