The President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski – Doctor Honoris Causa of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
JULY 3, 2015 – On July 2, 2015 at the Hall of Residence of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv a solemn meeting of the Academic Council of the University was held on the occasion of the appropriation of Doctor Honoris Causa degree by the President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski.
The event was attended by Presidents of Ukraine and Poland, members of IFNUL Academic Council, honorary doctors and honored professors, lecturers and students of the University community, diplomats, including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland Andriy Deshchytsia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Ukraine Henryk Litwin, clergy, heads of local state administration and local government, the military elite, representatives of scientific, educational and artistic institutions and creative unions of Lviv region, members of Lviv senate and rectors of universities in Poland.
Presenting the inaugural speech the President of Poland addressed the solemn academy, noting that all the present were supporters of building the Polish-Ukrainian friendship. “The presence of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in this hall means that the acceptance of proposal to become an honorary Doctor of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is a sign for good changes. This event is a powerful demonstration of joint motion of our nations towards the integration into free world community”.
The first to congratulate the President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the University was the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko: “I welcome the great friend of Ukraine, the man who made a significant contribution into the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations, the powerful lawyer of our country in the European Union for signing Association Agreement by June 27, 2014, the personality, who still remains the leader of Ukrainian interests on the world stage”.
