MARCH 29, 2016 – As a part of the Jean Monnet Module “The EU’s Subnational dimension” (553355-ЕРР-1-2014-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE), the workshop on the role of regional think-tanks and their involvement in the EU-related issues was held at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The key-note speaker was Nataliya Andrusevych – the CEO of the Resource and Analysis Center “Society and Environment” – a think-tank non-profit organization focusing on environmental policy and law research, capacity building and implementation of innovative initiatives in Ukraine.

Nataliya Andrusevych shared her experience and explained in details the activity of a think-tank non-profit organization in Ukraine. Shepaid particular attention to the peculiar features of think-tanks located outside of the capital. Nataliya Andrusevych noticed the importance of a more intensive interaction of non-profit organizations with regional and local authorities by focusing on environmental issues. The special emphasis was put on the contribution of the regional think-tanks in the EU-Ukraine cooperation. By using the example of both Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform, she noticed that regional think-tanks provide different stakeholders with valuable local/regional expertise and bring to the attention issues that can be overlooked by central governments and EU institutions.
