Visit of Vilnius University (Lithuania) delegation to IFNUL

APRIL 27, 2015 – On April 23, 2015 members of the Vilnius University delegation (Lithuania) – Dean of the Faculty of Law Thomas Davulis, Deputy Dean of the educational process Haroldas Šinkūnas, Head of the Department of Economics and Finance Julius Karmonas and Dr. Gintaras Jasaitis visited IFNUL.

Visit of Lithuanian colleagues to Lviv University was preceded by a visit of the Dean of the Law Faculty, Prof. Andriy Boyko to Vilnius University in December last year. According to the Dean of the Law Faculty of Vilnius University Dr. Thomas Davulis, problems of legal education in Ukraine and Lithuania are about the same, because “we are moving towards a European dymensity, the single European Research Area”. Therefore, Ukrainian and Lithuanian experience in this area may be beneficial.

“In our prospective plans – double master course and international scientific programs. Drawing attention to the excessive nationalization of scientific achievements interdisciplinary research and discovery of new areas of scientific development is required. So we are here to strengthen international relations and for setting up various forms of cooperation, “- shared his vision of the future of Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation Dean of the Law Faculty of Vilnius University. The parties agreed to work out specific steps of academic cooperation, such as joint research, conferences and forums, joint publications.

Dean of the Faculty of Law Andriy Boyko has focused attention on the implementation of the English master’s program, which has so far been on the faculty only 50% in English. Lithuanian colleagues found great interest to English-language master’s programs, which Law Faculty plans to introduce in September this year. During the meeting Rector Volodymyr Melnyk described the practice of SWOT-analysis at the Law Faculty of IFNUL – the first in Ukraine external independent evaluation of the quality of legal education in Lviv University, aimed at an creating optimal strategy of the faculty. In conclusion, the representatives of Vilnius University assured once again the Ukrainian colleagues in their openness and readiness for large-format cooperation and assistance.
