Horizon 2020 National Contact Point was established at IFNUL

OCTOBER 19, 2016 – On October 18, 2016, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, IFNUL held information day about “Horizon 2020” – The EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. National Coordinator of National Contact Points, Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Stella Shapoval said that Horizon 2020 is the largest EU program aimed at financing research and innovation. Its budget for 7 years (2014-2020) is around 80 billion EUR.

According to the coordinator, this program is a financial instrument aimed at ensuring Europe’s competitiveness in the world. Stella Shapoval welcomed the academic community of our university with the opening of Horizon 2020 National Contact Point (NCP). Oksana Zaremba, NCP coordinator noted that the vector of this NCP will be divided into two thematic areas: “The future and new technologies” and “Inclusive, innovative and intelligent society”. “Future and new technologies” thematic area will consist of three components: FET Open, FET Proactiv and FET Flagships.

FET Open provides project financing for new ideas for radically new future technologies that are currently developed. FET Proactive promotes the creation of new research communities by bringing researchers from different disciplines to collaborate on new technologies. In addition to research activities FET Proactive involves generation of research roadmap for individual scientific areas, development of training materials and dissemination of research results to enhance the general awareness of the benefits of new technologies. FET Flagships – a large-scale long-term research initiative to address large scientific and technological problems. The purpose of these projects is to transform scientific achievments into concrete innovative features that contribute to the growth of industry and address some of the major social issues, which Europe faces today.
