IFNUL delegation visited University of Tartu (Estonia)

MARCH 23, 2016 – During March 16-20, 2016 the delegation of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv consisting of: Vice-Rector for Academic and International Cooperation Mariya Zubrytska, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Ihor Byk and professors of the Faculty of International Relations Oksana Krayevska, Mariana Hladysh and Petro Baykovskyi visited one of the oldest European universities – University of Tartu (Tartu, Estonia) to agree on cooperation and participation in the International conference “Platform of the Eastern Partnership, the post-Soviet space between the EU and Russia. State of crisis: collapse or globalization?”

The visit was within the framework of the joint project of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the University of Tartu “Good governance through the involvement of civil society in Ukraine” with financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia. During the meeting with the delegation of the University Vice-Rector of Academic Cooperation of Tartu University, Dr. Mart Noorma discussed the cooperation between the two universities and approved the main directions of joint research. Dr. Mart Noorma stressed the importance of developing bilateral agreement in order to consolidate the results and contacts.

Members of the delegation were also made acquainted with the strategy of internationalization of one of the oldest universities and were informed about programs and summer schools for Ukrainian students. They were provided with the information on bilateral agreement with Tartu University and its presence in the world rankings. In addition, international projects coordinator Kadri Oja shared their experience of projects Erasmus + Erasmus Munudus, Tempus and Jean Monnet University in Tartu.

In 2015 there was signed an interinstitutional cooperation agreement between the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Tartu University within Erasmus+ KA1 – individual learning mobility. The competition for scholarships for education and training at Tartu University was announced at the official page of the International Relations Office https://international.lnu.edu.ua/erasmus-university-of-tartu.

The members of the meeting outlined the ways of development of Ukrainian-Czech cooperation in higher education and discussed concrete steps to fulfill the initiatives, specified during the conversation.

After the official meeting with the delegation from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Estonian colleagues suggested a tour to the main building of Tartu University. Representatives of our University also visited the Library and Museum of Tartu University.
During their stay at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv the scientists from Tartu participated in the International Conference “Platform of the Eastern Partnership, the post-Soviet space between the EU and Russia. State of crisis: collapse or globalization?”.

In the framework of the joint project during October 19-23, 2015 at the Faculty of International Relations of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv there was held an Autumn School “Good governance through the involvement of civil society in Ukraine”, in which discussions were held following thematic areas: “European principles and standards of governance, transparency, accountability and efficiency”, “Good governance as a key to economic development and innovation”, “E-governance as a facilitator of good governance: Inclusion, efficiency, transparency”, “The importance of education work with young people culture and communication “Management to society,” and “Creative thinking and innovation.”
