IFNUL signed cooperation agreement with University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski” (Bulgaria)
JUNE 1, 2016 – On May 31, 2016 was held an official meeting between the rectors of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Volodymyr Melnyk and the Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski, Zapryan Kozludzhov, who signed an Agreement on academic cooperation between these higher education institutions. The meeting was also attended by Counsellor on the issues of science and education at the Bulgarian Embassy in Kyiv, Mr. Petar Tanev, Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Svyatoslav Pylypchuk and Head of the Department of Slavic Philology, Alla Tatarenko.
According to the text of the Agreement, the parties aim to develop cooperation in different areas, which involves joint research, training young teachers and scientists, exchange of students, participation in scientific events, sharing teaching materials, joint publications and other forms of exchange of scientific and pedagogical experience.
Ukrainian-Bulgarian cooperation between Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski also provides for cooperation in the area of university policy and management in order to exchange experiences and establish relationships between libraries of both universities.
IFNUL Rector, Prof. Volodymyr Melnyk highlighted that signing of the Cooperation Agreement is the beginning of a new stage of the IFNUL long-term cooperation with the Higher Educational Institutions in Bulgaria: Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo, and from now on Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski. More than 35 years of cooperation unite Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with universities and scientific institutions in Bulgaria. Head of the Department of Slavonic Philology, Alla Tatarenko mentioned that specialization “Bulgarian language and literature” was opened at this department in 1978. Rector of the Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski, Zapryan Kozludzhov said about plans for future academic cooperation. He acknowledged his gratitude to the colleagues for a high level of development of Bulgarian Studies at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and expressed hope for further effective cooperation between the academic communities of both universities.
