IFNUL Students Meeting with the United States Ambassador to Ukraine

   NOVEMBER 14, 2014 – An Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine, Geoffrey R. Pyatt visited IFNUL and met with students of the University. Vice-Rector for International Relations, Prof. Mariya Zubrytska welcomed the Ambassador and members of the delegation at IFNUL and expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Ambassador, US Government and its citizens for their support at this difficult moment of our history.

   Geoffrey R. Pyatt spoke about his participation in Lviv Media Forum, where he took part in the discussion of the dramatic events of the Euromaidan as well as Crimea invasion and conflict in eastern Ukraine. US diplomat believes that Ukrainians will win in the struggle for freedom and a European future. The task of the United States, according to Geoffrey R. Pyatt, is to support the reform processes in Ukraine. Thefore, the first and important step – reforms in the energy and legislative areas and constitutional changes.

   An active discussion on current issues that are important for Ukrainian society was held during the meeting. Students were interested in US position regarding the processes of globalization and international relations of Ukraine, Russia, China and the USA.

   At the end of the dialogue Mr. Ambassador promised to come back to the University and to share his vision of state processes in Ukraine with young people. On behalf of IFNUL students and administration, Vice-Rector Mariya Zubrytska expressed her gratitude to Geoffrey R. Pyatt for the visit and the desire to communicate with the university community. Prof. Zubrytska hopes that such meetings will become a tradition.
