International German-Polish-Ukrainian Autumn School at IFNUL

International German-Polish-Ukrainian Autumn School makes a good start at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv

  OCTOBER 13, 2014 – On October 13, 2014, International German-Polish-Ukrainian Autumn School “National minorities in East and West: Historical Determinants, European Context and Visions of the Future” was launched at the Faculty of International Relations. The school is organized by the Department of Regional Studies and International Tourism (Faculty of International Relations, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv), Chair for Central and Eastern European Studies (Institute for European Studies, Chemnitz University of Technology), Department of International Relations (Institute of Political Science, Opole University).

  Students from Ukraine, Poland and Germany will receive a great experience of cooperation and interchange of ideas. The autumn school will last until October 17, 2014. The main attention will be focused on issues concerning historical and cultural development of Germany, situation with Ukrainian minorities in Poland and Polish minority in Ukraine in the context of European integration processes. Students will raise such questions, as historical memory and its influence on contemporary processes of national reconciliation, escalation of ethnic conflicts, legal security and implementation of European standards of national minorities protection, national policy of Ukraine, Germany and Poland in this field.

  Finally, after meetings with representatives of national minorities and preparation of presentations, seminars and lectures, the students will present their own vision of future development of national minorities in Ukraine, Poland and Germany.
