Former Prime Minister of Poland Jan Krzysztof Bielecki shared his experience of European integration in Poland

MAY 14, 2015 – On May 13, 2015 the former Prime Minister of Poland, expert in the project «UkraineReforms» Jan Krzysztof Bielecki visited IFNUL and had a meeting with students of the Faculty of Law. The topic of disscusion at the meeting was: “Polish experience of European integration. Is there something for Ukraine?”.

The lecture was held within the framework of the project of the V. Martens Center for European Studies «UkraineReforms», the aim of which is to spread the information about the necessary for Ukraine reforms with the help of visits of experienced experts, leading European politicians, who can share their experience of the reforms in the EU with Ukrainians and give necessary recommendations.

During the meeting with the students of the Faculty of Law, Jan Krzysztof Bielecki spoke about signing the Agreement between Poland and the European Union, the meticulous work of lawyers on the European integration process in the country and the consequences that awaited Polish citizens after opening the borders.

The politician noted that the economics and general lifestyle of Polish citizens had been complicated during the first years after signing the Agreement, but after a little time it was justified. The Association Agreement is, first of all, the process of necessary internal reforms, implementation of which could give Ukraine a historic opportunity to become finally a self-sufficient player of the international arena.

Finally, Former Prime Minister of Poland stressed that during the last 50 years of European integration processes no country paid such a high price for its civilizational choice as Ukraine did.
