Meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Ukraine

   NOVEMBER 11, 2014 – Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Melnyk had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Ukraine, Mr. Wolf Dietrich Heim. Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor Mariya Zubrytska and Director of the Austrian Center in Lviv, Attache for Science and Education of the Embassy of Austria in Ukraine, Mr. Andreas Wenninger also attended the meeting.

   Rector Volodymyr Melnyk gladly welcomed the distinguished guest and said that due to the assistance of the Embassy of Austria in Ukraine, effective cooperation of our University with Austrian educational and scientific institutions were established. Prof. Melnyk expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for help and support in academic mobility of students and scholars and assured that we would continue to create the necessary conditions for active cooperation with Austrian colleagues.

   Mr. Wolf Dietrich Heim said that Ukraine and Austria have much in common and talked about his special attitude to Lviv and our University as well as pointed out that he closely follows the processes which are taking place in Ukraine, including implementation of reforms and new laws.

   The achievements of Ukrainian-Austrian cooperation in education, science and culture were discussed during the meeting as well. It is worth noticing that in recent years a number of joint projects were implemented, for example, few Austrian authors were translated into Ukrainian, bilingual literary and scientific books were published and activities aimed at strengthening cultural and historical ties between Ukraine and Austria were conducted.
