Representatives of IFNUL and Würzburg University discussed ways of developing academic cooperation

APRIL 27, 2015 – During his working visit to the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Prof. Alfred Forсhel, President of Würzburg University, had meetings with Rector, Prof.Volodymyr Melnyk, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Mariya Zubrytska and Vice-Rector for Academic Research and Teaching Vitaliy Kukharskyy.

Prof. Volodymyr Melnyk thanked the President of Würzburg University for computers that our University received as a part of technical assistance from German colleagues. Within the next tranche Alfred Forchel proposed that the electronic and spectral microscopes would be granted to IFNUL to effectively conduct research and expressed his readiness to allocate funds for training at Würzburg University.

In the negotiations on further university cooperation the main focus was on the necessity to develop joint research projects within the program “Horizon 2020” and educational programs within Erasmus+ programme. A particular topic for discussion was academic mobility of students and teachers, as well as the participance of undergraduate, graduate students and young teachers in summer schools and academic training of teaching staff at Würzburg University. Taking into consideration the positive experience of introducing Joint Certificate Course on Advanced Computational Mathematics, it has been agreed that there should be certain measures taken regarding the development of new joint certification programs in European and German law, economics and business.

The meetings and discussions about further development of academic cooperation were attended by several IFNUL deans: Prof. Andriy Boyko, Prof. Mykhaylo Zarichnyy, Prof. Yarema Savula and Oksana Kotsovska, Coordinator of German Law Centre, Prof.Yuriy Plevachuk, Head of Scientific Research Department, Prof. Volodymyr Kapustianyk, Director of Research and Training Center “Fractal”, Prof. Stepan Mudryy, Head of Department of Metal Physics, Vasyl Buniyak, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Oksana Osidach, Associate Professor of Economics.
