Visit of the world’s leading experts of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to IFNUL

NOVEMBER 2, 2015 – On October 30, 2015 the experts of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) visited the IFNUL to work out the proposals that will form the basis of the strategy of openness and transparency of higher education in Ukraine in collaboration with the University administration and representatives of the teaching and student communities.

According to the head of delegation, the results of OECD research will be handed over to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. On the basis of these results a draft amendment to the Ukrainian Law on Education will be created with the purpose of its correction and addition for the formation of an open and transparent system of higher education.

OECD experts have developed the methodology of fairness of the education system, which helps to direct policy to reduce opportunities for sustainable corrupt practices. The methodology was approved by the Supervisory Board of 24 countries – members of the OECD Anti-Corruption Network. OECD expert’s meetings with the representatives of the University administration, teaching and student communities, including the Faculty of Law, passed along in the form of focus groups meetings and expert interviews.

Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs, Prof. Mariya Zubrytska spoke about peculiarities of the educational process, in particular the selective disciplines and percentage of humanitarian component, a new concept of learning foreign languages, international cooperation and academic mobility of students, teachers and researchers of the University.

Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Information, Prof. Vitaliy Kukharskyy informed the experts about the students, alumnies and staff achievements of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Electronics in the sphere of the development of IT technologies and spoke about cooperation with employers and successful graduates employment.

IFNUL collaborates with OECD on the project “Integrity Study of Education System”, which aimes to deepen the study of the education system in order to investigate the “gray areas” or “areas of dishonesty” in education.

OECD experts estimate the level of susceptibility to corruption of representatives of the public sector, including the state education system reform, the risk of conflicts of interests or lobbying with the use of appropriate legal instruments to reduce the risk of bribery of officials and the level of bribery, provides with appropriate recommendations in order to eliminate risks in key areas.
